DISTILLED IN 2011, BOTTLED IN 2023

Glenrothes describes their whisky as a "complex yet refined, naturally coloured whisky with delicate sherry notes, underpinned by layers of fruity depth." This description fits perfectly with the 15th release, a 12-year-old single malt from the eponymous distillery. This expression spent the full 12 years in a sherry cask – the exact type of sherry is unknown – yet the sherry influence is subtle and the Glenrothes style remains clearly recognizable. It is likely a 2nd-fill cask, therefore.

This is a gem of a single malt that is very drinkable thanks to the 50.3% ABV, with oh so much to discover. Pour it, let it gently 'open up', and then the fun begins.

NOSE:
A fruit feast! Ripe bananas, pear, pineapple, and stewed apple.

PALATE:
A beautiful balance between maltiness and fruitiness. Toffee and butterscotch, with a subtle layer of sweetness from the sherry cask towards the end.

FINISH:
Lingers for a long time. A slightly drying mouthfeel, but the next sip solves this!
